In an account written about Jesus in the book of Matthew 22, verses 34-40, Jesus is asked which commandment in their [Jewish] law is the greatest. His response is one that greatly intrigues me, and I believe it will do the same for you, too.
Jesus responded, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets (Matthew 22:37-40).”
Jesus was, indeed, saying: When we commit to love Him, ourselves, and our neighbors as ourselves, we are fulfilling all 613 laws that the Jews of Jesus’ day were to follow!
In fact, I believe that the peak of a strong, solid inner-life, emotional, and mental health journey [along with experiencing frequent spiritual breakthroughs in your relationships with God, self, and others] is found in the heart of the scriptures mentioned above.
Truth be told?
Optimum hope, wellness, spiritual, emotional, and mental resilience can be found in learning to:
Receive Jesus’ love for us,
Love Him in return,
Love ourselves, and
Others as ourselves.
The icing on the cake [and perhaps the most undiscovered, hidden truth] in all of this is that when one dares to embark on the journey of loving God, self, and others, they will also clearly discover God’s will for their lives in ANY given circumstance and situation.
